2026 Event Launch: 'Discovering China' for Foreign Diplomats

On March 20, the Shunyi Grand Theatre in Beijing hosted the launch ceremony of the 'Discovering the Beauty of China' event, set to engage foreign diplomats in 2026. Gao Zheng, Deputy Minister of the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Dario Mihailin, the Croatian Ambassador to China, were among the key figures present, joined by representatives from twelve foreign embassies and diplomats from approximately forty countries, culminating in over 200 attendees.

During the event, guests from both China and abroad had the opportunity to visit a special exhibition titled 'Blooming Nation: A Colorful Shunyi.' They participated in themed promotions aimed at highlighting the essence and beauty of China, reflecting on the five-year developmental journey of the event. The launch also showcased the activities planned for 2026, emphasizing the ongoing exploration of key Chinese cities.

Through the 'Discovering the Beauty of China' initiative, foreign diplomats will delve into the rich cultural and tourist experiences across various regions including Beijing, Chongqing, Guangdong, Sichuan, Hubei, and Shaanxi. The program aims to foster a deeper understanding of the harmonious blend of culture and tourism while showcasing the essence of contemporary Chinese modernization.

Since its inception in 2021, the event has successfully involved over 500 diplomats from 107 countries, indicating a robust international interest in China’s cultural narrative. By the conclusion of 2026, the initiative plans to encompass 24 provinces, broadening its geographical outreach and cultural exchange opportunities.
