Yunnan Province Unveils 49 Meter Auspicious Buddha Statue

Yunnan Province has unveiled the majestic 49-meter Auspicious Buddha statue at the Mengle Grand Buddhist Temple, a significant cultural landmark that intertwines faith and tourism in a uniquely captivating setting.

Situated on Nanlian Mountain in Xishuangbanna, southwest China, the Mengle Grand Buddhist Temple is renowned for its distinct blend of Theravada Buddhism and traditional Dai-style architecture, making it a popular destination for cultural and spiritual tourism.

Originally established as the Jingpiao Buddhist Temple by a Dai king during the Ming Dynasty, the temple has a rich history. It faced destruction during conflicts in 1848 but was faithfully reconstructed in 2005 to preserve its cultural legacy.

The scenic area surrounding the temple is not only focused on the life of Sakyamuni Buddha but also features various religious structures, including the notable Jingpiao Hall, which invites visitors to explore its spiritual significance.
