Ahead of International Women's Day, female spending on the Douyin platform surged by over 60 percent compared to the previous year. This significant rise underscores the growing cultural engagement and evolving consumer trends among women in China.

What was once considered a niche trend has transformed into a powerful driving force behind domestic demand. Spending for personal joy and fulfillment is now central to women’s consumer habits, reflecting their desire for self-care and cultural experiences.

Douyin Life Services reported that during the first five days of March, women exhibited a marked preference for culturally rich choices. Bookings for intangible cultural heritage workshops soared by 326 percent, while museum-related bookings increased by 312 percent. Additionally, experiences centered around hanfu styling grew by 224 percent, showcasing women's emerging role as influential drivers of cultural consumption.

This trend extends beyond mere emotional satisfaction and into a realm of long-term value. The data reveals that fashion-related group purchases have risen by 98 percent, jewelry purchases increased by 189 percent, and gold purchases surged by an impressive 652 percent. This shift indicates that women are seeking items that combine emotional significance with lasting appeal.

As spring approaches, changing celebration styles reflect a shift in priorities. "Tasting the season" has become popular, with orders for fresh spring cuisine growing by 183 percent, afternoon tea bookings rising by 76 percent, and group dining increasing by 66 percent. More women are opting for shared meals, emphasizing the importance of food and friendship in making memorable experiences.

The trend encompasses various facets of life, from cultural experiences to fashion preferences, and from exquisite dining to travel. Leisure consumption has become an integral part of the daily lives of Chinese women, injecting new energy into domestic demand.
