Spring Festival Events in Madrid Celebrate Cultural Connections

On February 8, 2026, the vibrant "Happy Spring Festival" series of events will kick off in Spain, bringing together culture lovers and communities at the National Auditorium of Madrid. This much-anticipated celebration will be graced by notable dignitaries, including Yolanda Díaz, Spain's Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labor and Social Economy, as well as Gao Zheng, China's Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism.

The event promises an evening filled with festive joy as guests participate in various activities. They will illuminate the "Lucky Horse" lantern, symbolizing good fortune, and indulge in a culinary journey featuring an array of delectable Chinese and Spanish dishes. Visitors can also engage in enriching non-heritage experiences, such as tea art demonstrations and flower arrangement workshops, showcasing the artistic traditions of both cultures.

A highlight of the event is the collaboration of prestigious musical ensembles including the Shanghai National Orchestra, the Shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe, and the Madrid Philharmonic Orchestra. They will perform classical masterpieces that blend the unique characteristics of Chinese and Western music, such as the enchanting "Spring Festival Overture," the lyrical "Peony Pavilion: The Dream of Surprise," and the spirited "Waves." This musical fusion aims to create an unforgettable concert atmosphere.

Adding to the festive spirit, the Chinese Cultural Center in Madrid will unveil the exhibition "Ancient China in Cultural Creation" on the same day. This showcase will present 21 meticulously crafted replicas of cultural relics alongside 565 innovative cultural products from 19 esteemed institutions, including the National Museum of China. A special section entitled "Heavenly Horse Treading on Spring" will offer insight into the customs surrounding the Chinese Spring Festival and zodiac culture.

Running until March 15, the exhibition and accompanying events are designed to enrich cultural exchange and foster mutual understanding between China and Spain.
