7th Xinjiang International Ethnic Dance Festival Opens

The 7th China Xinjiang International Ethnic Dance Festival is a vibrant celebration of dance and culture, featuring numerous performances and events aimed at promoting artistic exchange and grassroots engagement.
On July 20, the 7th China Xinjiang International Ethnic Dance Festival officially kicked off in Urumqi. The event was attended by Chen Xiaojian, Secretary of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Party Committee. Also present were Erken Tuniyaz, Chairman of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, and Gao Zheng, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, who both delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.
This year's festival, themed "Let Us Dance Together," will last for 17 days. A total of 24 artistic groups from both domestic and international backgrounds will present 52 captivating performances, showcasing a variety of artistic forms including dance dramas, operas, musicals, ballet, and modern dance.
Throughout the festival, several supplementary events are planned, such as the "Meeting with Art" masterclass, themed dialogue sessions for creators titled "Endless Dance," a 2025 Xinjiang Silk Road street dance showcase, a community dance performance called "Dance of Our Village," a dance carnival titled "Let Us Dance Together" featuring performances from both Chinese and foreign artists, and the "Silk Road Theatre Arts Week" highlighting traditional opera within the Tianshan Mountains.
With Urumqi as the main venue, the festival will also extend to sub-venues in Ili, Karamay, Hami, Aksu, Hotan, and Aral, facilitating the delivery of high-quality cultural resources to grassroots communities.
