Cultural Exchange at Philadelphia's Joyful Spring Festival

On January 28, 2026, Philadelphia embraced a cultural celebration with the "Joyful Spring Festival" concert and the "Hello! China" tourism promotion series. This vibrant event was co-organized by the China National Tourist Office in New York and the Philadelphia Orchestra, taking place at the iconic Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

The concert brought together nearly 2,500 attendees, including guests from diverse sectors across China and the United States. The Philadelphia Orchestra, directed by the talented Canadian conductor Naomi Wu, performed alongside esteemed Chinese folk musicians Yu Hongmei and Zhang Hongyan. Together, they illuminated the theme of spring through a variety of musical pieces, demonstrating the beauty of cultural exchange.

In addition to the concert, the "Hello! China" tourism promotion reception was launched to introduce attendees to the rich tapestry of travel opportunities in China. The themed exhibition "On the Road in China — China and the Philadelphia Orchestra" ran concurrently, immersing visitors in a unique blend of music and travel inspiration.

The festivities continued on January 29, when the National Traditional Orchestra of the Central Conservatory of Music held a special concert in celebration of the Chinese New Year at the Kimmel Center, promising to further enrich the cultural landscape of the event.
