The festive spirit of the upcoming 2026 "Happy Spring Festival" will be encapsulated by its newly unveiled mascot, "Lucky Horse." Drawing inspiration from the majestic bronze galloping horse from the Eastern Han Dynasty, known as "Galloping on a Flying Swallow" and discovered in Wuwei, Gansu Province, the design embodies rich cultural motifs. It seamlessly integrates elements from the Tang dynasty’s decorative techniques for horse manes, making it a true representation of Chinese artistry.

The vibrant primary color of the "Lucky Horse" is a traditional Chinese red, which is complemented by beautiful and auspicious cloud motifs as well as classic patterns. This design choice not only highlights the warm and joyous atmosphere associated with the Chinese Spring Festival but also emphasizes a connection to the country’s rich cultural heritage.

Created by the talented design team at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the "Lucky Horse" is more than just a mascot; it will represent a range of cultural and creative products that will captivate audiences both domestically and internationally. These products include plush toys, surprise blind boxes, and stylish fridge magnets, along with traditional festive items like Spring Festival couplets, red envelopes, and festive lanterns. This strategic product development by the China Tourism Group aims to enhance the celebratory experience of the festival.

The "Happy Spring Festival" itself is a grand event organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, celebrated annually for a remarkable 25 years since its inception in 2001. The initiative was launched to spread joy and heartfelt wishes for the New Year on a global platform, starting from the zodiac theme and now embodied by the joyful "Lucky Horse" mascot. As the 2026 festival approaches, preparations are in full swing to ensure it brings new delights and excitement to festivities worldwide.
