Xinshi Water Town Transforms Its Identity with Art
Highlights
Xinshi Town Dance Art Festival in Deqing, Zhejiang runs Oct 22-26, blending culture and nature with ballet, folk, and contemporary dances.
With the rhythmic splashes of oars echoing along a millennium-old canal adorned with glistening ripples, the second season of the Xinshi Town Dance Art Festival recently commenced in Deqing County, located in east China's Zhejiang Province. Running from October 22 to 26, the event seamlessly blends art with the rich culture and natural beauty of the ancient water town of Xinshi, establishing it as a prime destination for cultural tourism.
Under the theme of "Ease," a choreographed dance was performed during the festival, seamlessly blending elements of ballet, folk dance, and contemporary dance. The performance skillfully utilized lighting and shadow design to highlight the beauty of the traditional water town.
An academic conference focused on dance ecology, a theory established by dancer Zi Huayun that highlights the intersection of dance and ecological environments, will offer a platform for experts and scholars to engage in discussions about the theory and practices of this emerging field.
Through a variety of events, the festival aims to transform the water town into a culturally enriched scenic spot, enhancing the construction of its cultural identity with elements of art.
As this festival unfolds, visitors are expected to experience not only memorable performances but also a deeper appreciation for the way art can intertwine with nature and culture, redefining the identity of Xinshi.
