Four giant pandas are set to depart from Japan to their native China, with their departure date scheduled for June 28, 2025. Their return has sparked a significant emotional response among the Japanese public, highlighting the intricate connections between wildlife conservation and international relations.
The pandas traveling back are Rauhin, a 24-year-old female and the first panda born at Adventure World in Shirahama, along with her three daughters: Yuihin, aged 8, Saihin, aged 6, and Fuhin, aged 4. Rauhin, affectionately dubbed a 'veteran mom,' has successfully given birth to 10 cubs throughout her years in Japan.
Upon the pandas' departure, only two giant pandas will remain in Japan, both of which are currently residing at Ueno Zoo in Tokyo. They are anticipated to arrive in China by February 20, 2026.
The announcement of this impending return has stirred deep emotions across Japan. Many people are taking the time to express their heartfelt goodbyes to the beloved bears, who have become an integral part of their community.
The departure of Rauhin and her daughters signifies more than just the relocation of animals; it reflects the ongoing efforts in wildlife conservation and the importance of preserving natural habitats.
Additionally, this event underscores the cultural exchange between Japan and China, as pandas are seen as symbols of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
