In recent years, Xizang has prioritized the development of a comprehensive eco-environmental monitoring network, focusing on essential elements such as surface water, drinking water sources, and air quality. Remarkably, since 2016, the region has reported an annual rate of over 99 percent of days with excellent or good air quality, highlighting the successful efforts to tackle environmental challenges.

Xizang is steadfast in its commitment to fostering a harmonious balance between human development and nature as it progresses towards modernization. This commitment is reflected in initiatives that integrate eco-environmental protection with improvements to the living standards of its residents.

A comprehensive white paper released by China's State Council Information Office in March 2025 outlines the concerted efforts underway to enhance environmental protection while simultaneously prioritizing the well-being of the population throughout Xizang. This dual focus underscores the region's sustainable development model.

From 2018 to 2024, Xizang allocated nearly 95.4 billion yuan, equivalent to about 13.3 billion dollars, in subsidies and rewards aimed at strengthening ecological protection measures. This investment has significantly bolstered the region's environmental initiatives.

Moreover, from 2016 to 2024, Xizang has created an average of 516,000 jobs annually specifically dedicated to eco-environmental protection. This substantial employment contribution not only aids in preserving the region's natural heritage but also fosters economic growth and sustainable livelihoods for its inhabitants.
