In the first half of 2025, China experienced a remarkable surge in tourism, welcoming 13.64 million visa-free foreign entries. This influx highlights the effectiveness of recent policy changes aimed at facilitating travel for visitors from ASEAN countries and Indonesia.

At a press conference held by the National Immigration Administration, it was announced that a new visa-free policy had been implemented for ASEAN tourist groups visiting Xishuangbanna in Yunnan. Additionally, Indonesia has been included in the list of nations eligible for China's 240-hour transit visa-free policy, enhancing travel opportunities for its citizens.

The data presented indicates that these policy changes have led to a notable increase in foreign entries. Specifically, 13.64 million foreigners entered China without a visa during this period, representing a significant 71.2 percent of the total foreign arrivals, and an impressive 53.9 percent increase compared to the same timeframe last year.

The National Immigration Administration has taken proactive steps to improve the travel experience for foreign visitors. Collaboration with relevant departments has streamlined processes concerning various services, including payment, accommodation, and transportation, further encouraging exchanges between Chinese nationals and foreign visitors.

As the international tourism landscape continues to evolve, China’s enhanced visa policies are likely to support economic and trade cooperation with its neighbors in the region. This strategic approach aims to promote cultural exchanges and strengthen ties with other countries.

Overall, the welcoming of 13.64 million visa-free entries underscores China's commitment to enhancing its tourism sector and fostering an environment conducive to international travel. The positive response from foreign visitors reflects the effectiveness of these new measures.
